A recent publication by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations has been issued concordantly with the current Conference of the Parties (COP30) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which takes place in Belém, Brazil (November 10–21). The document focuses on the interactions between agriculture, food systems, and climate change, and compiles 12 sections, reporting on recent scientific progress in a wide range of topics. The Dead Sea and Arava Science Center has participated in preparing the document’s Section 5 on ‘Sustainable and integrated agricultural systems’. Among others, this section covers the interrelations and feedbacks between agricultural land-use and climate change; advances in regenerative farming practices; and the potential of agroforestry, silvopasture, and additional mixed land-uses in sustaining environmental functions.
