The Dead Sea and Arava Science Center is a multidisciplinary research center operating within the Israeli desert. Its main goals are to advance knowledge, resilience, and applied solutions for life in extreme conditions. The DSASC combines basic research with applied development, public policy, community education, and regional and international collaborations. Its unique research approach combines fieldwork, a holistic concept of sustainability, and research of life in the desert. The research center offers a desert setting, research alongside community outreach, a universal perspective on extreme environments, and interdisciplinary teams, backed by core values of sharing, place attachment, passion for knowledge, innovation, and integrity. DSASC’s moto: Prosperity begins with knowledge – harnessing the wisdom of the desert for the benefit of the world.
The DSASC covers an expansive area measuring approximately 30% of the State of Israel and is under the jurisdiction of five municipalities: Dead Sea Scrolls, Tamar, Central Arava, Eilot Region, and Mitzpe Ramon.
