Most of the research at the Dead Sea Branch is carried out at the Institute for the Study of Skin, located at Masada.
The Institute leads various applied studies related to the health and function of human skin. The fields of research and development include cosmetics, dermatology and medicine, with an emphasis on regional contexts, namely the use of the unique natural resources of the region (the Dead Sea, solar radiation, etc.), desert herbs and medicinal tourism. The Institute conducts advanced analytical research methods to locate and characterize unique microbial organisms in the sea, in sinkholes and on the human skin.
The Institute has a department that provides research and cooperation services for R & D. This department offers pre-clinical research services to cosmetic companies, advances dermatology and medical start-up projects based on the unique experimental models developed by the Institute and the experiment system suited to each customer’s personal requirements, while continuously upgrading to state of the art equipment, and learning the newest technologies and methods. The Research Services Department works under binding standards of customer service, experiment and report protocols, accuracy, reliability and tight schedules.
