As part of the H2020 eLTER project Mihai Adamescu, chair of Romania LTER network, hosted a spring school on soil. The meeting also served as a collaboration to promote Braila LTSER platform.
The teachers included Nikos Nikolaidis from Greece, Emil Dimitrov from Bulgaria, Elli Groner and Tamir Rozenberg from Israel, Mihai and several other researchers from Romania including: Vasile Turcu , Preda Elena , Constantin Cazacu, .
The workshop included field work to sample CO2 flux, soil characteristics and biodiversity of invertebrates. Elli and Tamir were responsible for teaching how to extract arthropods from the soil and then identify them into orders and calculate the QBS index. Soil samples were sampled from 4 places inside the Braila LTSER.
The organizers hope to repeat this spring school in the future both with national and international participants. It is also hoped that the data gathered will be used for a paper comparing sites at the 3 LTER countries.
